Britain's Best Steak - Lazylonghorn
Print

This article from the February 09 edition of Countrylife magazine highlights the quality of Longhorn steak, by reporting the results of a beef tasting session at the Hix Oyster & Chop House, London EC2.

Longhorn cattle are a long-horned brown and white breed of beef cattle originating from Craven in the north of England. They have a white patch along the line of their spine and under their bellies.

They are not to be confused with the Texas longhorn breed, which is often called simply "Longhorn cattle".

The Longhorn breed was much improved by Robert Bakewell of Dishley. His selective breeding made the breed very popular towards the end of the 18th century. The beef is particularly delicious and has been warmly praised by the chef Heston Blumenthal.
